1985 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Targa

We all know you can buy an older Porsche twice: once at acquisition and once in needed deferred maintenance. Here is a chance to buy one that is "right" from the start.

This is a three owner California car sold new at Long Beach Porsche. Options included: leather seats, power locks, 16" wheels, and cruise control. It's in stunning and very original condition overall with only 129k miles. All books, manuals, tire compressor, tool kit and MSRP sticker are with the car. The car runs absolutely perfectly: it's the strongest 3.2 Porsche I have driven, clutch is excellent, transmission smooth shifting in every gear, and the engine does not leak and burns only a quart of oil in 4000 miles, MPG is about 18 and on the highway 25. Over $7000 has been spent on the car recently including: full valve adjustment service, tune up with new plug wires, new ball joints, new wheel bearings, new front shocks, 02 sensor and all fluids (brake, trans and engine) changed, new engine mounts and the alignment done. Everything on the car except the AC which is not charged but in place works: instruments, windows, locks, lights and cruise control... all work properly.

The exterior and interior condition is excellent overall. Paint is all original except one rear quarter panel was repainted do to a scrape. There is one small scuff (see pictures) and a few small stone chips and in general is better than any 25 year old Porsches I have seen. The interior is remarkable and original: leather is supple and in super condition. Dash is perfect! The Targa soft top is also excellent and shows only minor wear on the rubber seals. Carpets are very good, with the only notable exception being the rear seat parcel side of the seat back carpet showing some fading. Trunk mat is original and flawless. There are a few tasteful updates: alloy inside door handles to replace stock plastic, strut brace, a nice set of Coco mats in black and red, and an updated CD and speaker set and a hood liner installed.

History includes present owners pre-purchase inspection at Kahler's Werkstatt (March 2006 at 120k miles) and the second owner's pre-purchase inspection at Andial Porsche in 2004 at 114k miles. Compression is 155 PSI on all six cylinders.

This is one good Porsche from the start: you can expect over 10k miles of use without any expense. You will not have any untoward maintenance surprises.

This is a private party car consigned to Driveline for sale by its owner.
