Here is an extensively modified 1987 Porsche Cabriolet with very serious IMSA 962 single turbo engine! This is a nicely done period correct Porsche track car. This car is blisteringly fast and very well set up. Clearly thousands were spent making this unique beast.
This 911 is fitted with a 962 twin plug single turbo 3.4 litre engine built by Ed Pink. The upgrades include solid rockers, titanium rods, 962 oil pump, 962 intake, 962 injection, KKK turbo, and intercoolers with electric fans, and a 20 quart oil sump with lightweight Kevlar oil lines throughout. Engine number is 6881125 930/83.
The transmission is also similarly upgraded to a 6 speed 930 gear box by RSO in Germany with electric oil pump and transmission cooler. Number 930/32/776. Suspension is 935 style a-arm "coil over" with Bilsteins all around. Brakes are Brembo front and rear with 14" calipers. Fiske 18" (9.5 front and 12" rear) wheels shod with half used Pirelli 245/40/18 and 345/30/18.
The body work is Porsche factory all steel 930 "S" fenders and side rocker slope nose kit with a very nicely integrated 993 Twin Turbo front valence and a custom rear 935 tail and rear valence. Mirrors are aero style. Paint work and body panel fit are very good, the only faults being slight buffing marks on hood and some evidence the left side near the top canvas are not well color sanded. The rear wing fit is good but a slightly larger 3/8 inch gap than the 3 mm Porsche spec. All glass and the soft top are in nice condition. Under the front valence are all steel custom air intake scoops to the coolers, and they are very nicely done!
Recaro FIA spec seats and white faced VDO gauges dominate the interior. A four point roll bar with side extensions up to the front door jams and five point racing harnesses are nicely installed. The carpet is the low knap German style and fitted very nicely: it looks very close to new. Top fit and condition is excellent and the power top is operable. The air conditioning is a freezer: the complete German system by "Kuhl" throughout. You could leave it running on a track day and stay comfortably cool!
This is a unique car, a very fast car, and a car professionally executed in its fitment. The only non operable items are the gas gauge as it is fitted with a Fuel Safe fuel cell and it does not have heat exchangers for a heater. Please note: this car is titled in California, but will not pass SMOG therefore must not be operated on California roads. This Porsche has a clean CarFax and shows no evidence of body damage. This is a private party car consigned to Driveline.
